Hi! My name is Newman Scott Hunter. I'm a Canadian web developer currently living in Toronto, Ontario. I've been developing web applications, primarly in PHP since 2005. I currently work as a developer / jack-of-all-trades IT guy for a medium size non-profit organization. Before that I spent some time drifting in university before finishing Computer Programming and Analysis at Seneca College in Toronto.
Since finishing school I've helped to develop TrackIT, a member service pay-per-use site based on LAMP architechture. I'm currently developing a new Drupal based website which also integrates with the established code base for TrackIT. I've also written a Flash 9 / Flex 3 based licensing application which captures specific licence photos and returns them using varying methods from FTP to web services.
I'm an end to end developer. I can take development from concept through finished implementation, including deployment on specific platforms, serving as developer/maintaner and systems administrator. I currently administer a Gentoo based HA cluster and Amazon AWS server set in addition to the server for the site you're currently viewing.
I enjoy creating mashups of various technologies, making things work together which create a flexible and reliable systems costing less than the alternative. I'm a big advocate of open source technology, but a bigger advocate of what works.
When not thinking about technology, I enjoy getting riled up about politicts and watching documentaries, cooking, and finding a new way to think about things every day.
