It's hard to believe that a year has already passed since my first introduction to Drupal.
DrupalCon Toronto marks my one year anniversary, give or take, working with the CMS. A year ago we were evaluating different options for the redesign of the primary company website and Drupal was near the top of the list. I attended DrupalCamp Toronto then to try and get a first leg up on the system and see if it would really meet our needs. It did, without a doubt, so for the last year I've had fun picking Drupal apart and putting it back together in various ways.
I've learned alot, and it feels like I've moved forward a level actually presenting this year. Two sessions for my first time out turned out to be a bit of a lofty goal. It took some work getting things ready and at times I thought that scaling things back to one might have been the better choice. But now that it's over, I'm very glad that I went through with two. It's a real kick to finally be standing at the front of the room in a group of peers and giving them new ideas and concepts.
I also had the added pressure of presenting to not only a former professor of mine, who actually taught me html, but another developer who had interviewed me twice in the last two weeks, and one of the core developers I personally have allot of respect for. Here's hoping good comes from that too.
Outside of my own personal hubris, the speakers this year were both interesting and varied. Lots of new faces, lots of new presentations, lots of new things to think about. I enjoy going to conventions, and the DrupalCamp in Toronto has never disappointed.
