DrupalCon 2008 - Day 3/4

Being things were a little exhausting yesterday with the party at Felt the night before, there wasn't quite enough energy to update this thing. But I've been a little off on my daily post ideal since coming to Boston anyway.

Coming to conferences, I always enjoy the sessions, but there's always one idea or particular concept that really makes things pop. In that vein, scraping sites really isn't a new concept, but applying that concept to drupal was new to me. The session on external data sources was the absolute pop for me this week. With modules like DataMiner, there's a definite push to facilitate new methods of collecting and aggregating data within the community. Ignoring the nefarious possibilities of having an effective way to collect and alter the organization of data, the power is kind of limitless.

Really, if it was leveraged correctly, you could spawn niche sites on almost any topic with little to no effort and collect adsense revenue without any real content.

Anyway, it's been a good week, and I've found that thing which gets me excited and back into the groove. So with any luck, I'll come up with something interesting to talk about for DrupalCamp Toronto later this year.
